SP42B engine - from where?

Hello again,

I just bought another DR, this time it's a '92 DR650RSE. It is in very band condition and has no engine at all. I have two questions for you: 1) where in Germany could I get a good complete engine for this bike and 2) can I use motors from SP44, 45 and 46?

Thanks again!

Hi Mara,
I can't help you where you can find an engine.
But I think your sp42 is an rs not an rse. So you can use the engines from sp42 or sp44. Or if you want the engines from sp43 or sp45 with E-start (Then you have to modificate some parts). The sp46 engine doesn't fit.

Kami,

I just remebered you mentioned that only engines from 42 to 45 would fit my SP43B. So I suppose SP41 does not fit? Is there any way of making it fit or would it be too difficult/impossible?

ps. I have two bikes. '91 RS that is working (has some oil leaking from the left side between the cylinder and the cylinder head) and a '92 RSE that has a completely damaged cylinder, cylinderhead, valves, etc. My RSE is registered for 17" supermoto wheels, but my RS is not. So I'm looking for a good engine for the RSE so that I can sell my RS.

Thanks,

Mara

I would look for a engine at www.ebay.de, but you have to be patient. Or write in the "Marktplatz" -> "Suche" section that you need a motor.
